Various Questions That Might be Useful to You.
Please contact me with any other questions you have!
Am I against medications?
No, I am not against pharmaceutical medications. There are many instances where pharmaceuticals are integral to your health. I support you taking the medications you are on or adding medications while we work together and will not judge your decisions. Herbal medicine and pharmaceutical medications are not mutually exclusive.
Now, if you are interested in working your way off of a particular medication, it is possible I can help you with that. However, there are situations where I would not support removing a medication you are currently taking without the additional support of your allopathic team (MD, PA, NP…)
What is herbalism?
Great question! Ask 100 different herbalists, you’ll get 100 different answers. My general answer: a holistic look at an individual, taking in all of their unique complexities, and seeing what is out of balance (not feeling “right”, causing pain, causing distress, or just bothering them) and looking for a way to bring them back into balance. This is generally done slowly and steadily, using plant materials in the form of teas, tinctures, ground herbs, salves, infused oils, capsules, etc… I use an amalgam of western herbalism, TCM, Ayurveda, my nursing training, and various other elements to inform my decision making. You, as the client, tell me your story - uninterrupted and without judgement - so that we can see where help is needed. I use tongue diagnosis, facial diagnosis, and evaluate your constitution as some of the tools to figure out what the heck is going on in your body that needs support.
How long does it take?
This is a tricky one. Generally, working with plant medicine is a slow and steady process. Generally, making changes requires regular and consistent use of the formulas you are recommended in order to make lasting change. That isn’t to say that you won’t feel immediate relief or change. It’s more to say that, often, the people I work with are looking for help with bigger issues that require changes to their lifestyle or habits and consistent incremental change takes time.
Do I take insurance?
I wish! Unfortunately, no. And I do realize how difficult it is to work with alternative practitioners in the U.S. due to cost. What I can say is that I am a dedicated practitioner and do not take the cost of what I provide lightly. I will let you know if you want to work on an issue that is outside of my scope, will be transparent about what I think is needed, and give you the best information I can to make your decision about how to spend your hard-earned money.
If you would like to work with me but cost is prohibitive, I do offer sliding scale to some patients. Please fill out the form below to have sliding scale pricing taken into consideration.
